We are happy to announce that the Courage Book, the campaign developed for our client Piraeus Bank Romania, has been shortlisted in the Online Storytelling category at this years edition of Digital Communication Awards, a festival celebrating the most innovative campaigns in digital communication in Europe. On September 29, in Berlin, we will see if we won the Grand Prize. Keeping the fingers crossed! 😊

In a country with less than 300 public libraries and where 42% of children are functionally illiterate, Piraeus Bank wanted to empower people. The bank gathered real life stories about real acts of courage in The Book of Courage.  More than 2,000 books were distributed in 40 public libraries in Romania reaching more than 40,000 children and inspiring them to read and become a brave generation.

Piraeus Bank set out to communicate with the society through a values-based approach in which to inspire children and people in general to have the courage to pursue goals and dreams and encourage other to do the same. First of all Piraeus Bank connected with its’ fans on their own digital platforms to create buzz and gather the right content – real life stories, while also engaging with third parties: media, social media and key opinion leaders.

To kick-start the campaign we set out to create a digital platform called the Courage Seekers in which we asked the Piraeus Bank community on Facebook to share its stories about real acts of courage they know about. Taken aback by an unexpected wave of positive reactions we launched the Courage Blog where we would invite our most vocal authors to detail their stories. After gathering amazing and inspiring stories, we decided the publish and launch a new children book – The Courage Book, that gathered the best of them.

TheCourage Book entered the Top 3 children’s books of the year 2016 in only two months and we distributed more than 2,000 Courage Books in 40 public libraries in Romania reaching more than 40,000 children.
